Cookies - what they are and how they work

Cookies are something that the vast majority of websites use today. A cookie is a small text file that is placed in your browser's internal memory and allows us to see what you click on, how you navigate the website and how the content on the website performs. Furthermore, we collect information about navigation, time of visit, which browser you use, etc. We do this so that we can best adapt the content of the website to you as a user. Most browsers (Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, etc.) are set to accept cookies automatically, but you can choose to change your settings so that cookies are not accepted.
Please note that this may mean that many websites will no longer function properly.

What we use cookies for

The analysis tool Google Analytics is used to study traffic, usage patterns and trends on the website. The data collected is used to optimize the user experience and customize the content of the website. In accordance with Google's guidelines for the use of Google Analytics, no personally identifiable information about you as a user is collected. The data collected is stored on Google's servers. If you wish to opt-out of Google Analytics collecting data about you, you can request to be excluded.

Google Tag Manager

Google Tag Manager handles tracking tags and refers to tracking setups and tracking to third-party solutions such as Universal Analytics (Google Analytics) and is used for website optimization and marketing services. All tracking tags are run and managed via Google Tag Manager.

What is stored: Your movements and certain actions on the website (e.g. if you press "Add to cart" in an online store). All data is anonymized and we do not store any sensitive information such as: credit card details, phone number, address or any other form of data that can identify you as a person.

Facebook Pixel

Facebook Pixel is an analytics tool that allows us to measure the effectiveness of Facebook advertising by tracking the actions the user performs on the website for the purpose of optimizing Facebook Ads (building Audience and remarketing). This information can be used to:

  • Ensure ads are shown to the right people
  • Build an advertising audience
  • Unlock additional advertising tools on Facebook

What is stored: Which ads the user has seen on Facebook, which pages the user has visited and which conversions (order, contact etc.) the user has made.

Maps the interaction the user has with the website. To help us understand how visitors interact with the website, Hotjar records visitor sessions. The Hotjar script is a websocket connection that sends the following information to Hotjar's servers:

  • HTML changes that occur during the user's session on the website
  • Mouse movements
  • Mouse click
  • Scrolling movements
  • Keystrokes for whitelisted actions
  • Statistics on whether the browser view size changes

Each event that is tracked is stored in Hotjar's cloud database using a timestamp that is later used to play back the events in sequential order. The Hotjar script tracks visitors as they visit different pages using a first-party cookie, allowing the entire session to be played back in a single recording. No sensitive or user information is collected or stored.
